Wonder Woman is no longer an ambassador to the UN

Warner Bros and DC Entertainment are supporting a year-long campaign by the United Nations and its children's agency, Unicef, for gender equality and women's empowerment.

'Although the original creators may have intended Wonder Woman to represent a strong and independent "warrior" woman with a feminist message, the reality is that the character's current iteration is that of a large breasted, white woman of impossible proportions, scantily clad in a shimmery, thigh-baring body suit, ' the petition read.

The list of reasons why Wonder Woman was a great choice as an honorary symbol for the UN's gender equality and female empowerment campaign far outweighed the one reason anyone could object to, but since when do we let a highly accomplished, capable woman get a job she's more than qualified for? "It is alarming that the United Nations would consider using a character with an overtly sexualised image at a time when the headline news in the United States and the world is the objectification of women and girls", it added.

Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston, who also helped invent the polygraph "lie detector" machine and was an afficionado of bondage and submission roleplay - what's now known as BDSM.

Recounts Bring Stein Publicity That Eluded Her On The Trail
With about 95 percent of the votes recounted, Clinton had gained 25 votes on Trump but still trailed by about 22,000. A federal judge says he'll rule Monday on a lawsuit that seeks a recount in Pennsylvania's presidential election.

According to the petition, which has gathered almost 45,000 signatures, the United Nations staffers objected to Wonder Woman's ambassadorship because of her appearance and "overtly sexualized image", which they deemed "not culturally encompassing or sensitive".

Wonder Woman was named an honorary ambassador in a ceremony featuring Gal Gadot and Lynda Carter, while several dozen protesters held up their fists with their backs turned on the proceedings in silent protest of the decision, finding the selection of Wonder Woman problematic because of her attire, her "Americanness", and the fact that she's a "white woman".

Critics said the appointment was tone deaf at a time when real women are fighting against sexual exploitation and abuse, and that there were plenty of real heroines that could be the face for gender equality. Past U.N. honorary ambassadors include Winnie the Pooh, Tinker Bell, and Angry Birds.

The superhero first made an appearance in comic books in 1941 and has been an iconic figure since her debut decades ago. However, Wonder Woman's campaign was initially slated to carry into 2017.
