Apple's OLED iPhone 8 Might Not Have Fingerprint Sensor

Overall, the allegedly final design of the iPhone 8 that was revealed in the recently leaked schematics has managed to get many fans of the iconic device extremely excited.

Apple has a long history of delivering innovative products and especially the company's innovations in smartphone market are exceptional. The iPhone 8's design is also expected to undergo a radical change from its predecessors, with the new leak showing off all screen display and thin bezels on all sides.

The anticipated move to a full-screen OLED panel in the coming iPhone 8/X eliminates the physical home button, which necessitates a move to a virtual home button and an optical fingerprint sensing solution to read fingerprints through the OLED panel.

It has also been discussed that it's home button will sit underneath glass, and that it will have to be tapped and not pressed to open up the phone.

According to the diagram, the handset's front display measures 5.768 inches and covers nearly the entire front part of the device, barring the 0.16-inch bezel on the four sides of the screen.

However, it is also believed that Apple will still go on with the event it holds every September, where it could just unveil the device - but hold off on the official launch.

This time round the supposed iPhone 8 diagram and render shared by KK show a handset, which is tinier than the one evidenced by his older leak.

Shakespeare made five changes for last weekend's trip to Everton to protect key players for the first leg against Atletico. James Tomkins is a doubt with a calf problem, while Scott Dann, Fraizer Campbell and Loic Remy are out.

"At this point, we do not believe Apple's optical fingerprint module provider has firm orders for production, which suggests Apple does not have functionality of the optical fingerprint sensor ready", Pacific Crest analysts added.

'Technical issues related to the lamination process of curved OLED panels, and the adoption of a 3D sensing system may cause the delay of the new iPhone devices, ' said the paper.

This report comes on the heels of news that Apple will build its own GPUs instead of using those from Imagination Technologies to power the increasingly dynamic graphics on its device screens.

Reports last week said that Google wants to invest nearly $1 billion in LG Display's OLED manufacturing plants to secure OLED displays for the Pixel 2 series, although the two parties did not sign an agreement.

Apple looked at technology developed by Synaptics (SYNA), Hargreaves wrote.

The iPhone 8 may come housed with a dual-camera setup, but vertically-oriented, unlike the iPhone 7 Plus. The smartphone is likely to feature a 5.768-inch display, which is bigger than 5.5-inch display on the iPhone 7 Plus.
