Family of Robert Godwin reacts to Steve Stephens' death

The nationwide manhunt for Steve Stephens, the man accused of posting video of a murder to Facebook, ended Tuesday when his body was found in a vehicle in Erie, Pa., police said.

By Monday, five states, including OH, were informed Stephens may be headed there.

According to employees at the restaurant, Stephens ordered a 20-piece McNuggets and a large order of fries in the drive-thru.

Lane said the last time she talked to Stephens was Saturday night and he told her he had quit his job and was moving out of state. Authorities say police tried to pull him over and, after a brief chase, he killed himself.

Stephens was wanted for the shooting death of Robert Godwin Sr.

In the video of the shooting, Stephens told Godwin the name of his girlfriend and said, "She's the reason that this is about to happen to you".

Stephens' videos and posts related to the incident were removed from Facebook two hours after they were uploaded. Local, state and federal authorities were involved in the hunt for Stephens, who was said to be driving a white Ford Fusion with a temporary tag. It took the social network almost two hours to remove the content, which was soon ubiquitous on other platforms such as YouTube.

Police said the woman he referred to was in a safe place.

Williams said the Cleveland police had received over 400 tips regarding Stephens' whereabouts.

Stephens says the name of a woman, whom Godwin does not seem to recognise.

Tammy Godwin offered a powerful and forgiving message for Stephens even though he left her family devasted, "we still don't hate you".

Stephens, who had no prior criminal record, was not suspected in any other killings, Cleveland officials had said.

Gail Wheeler, of Erie, said she was stopped at a light at the McDonald's when Stephens came "whipping out" of the parking lot, almost hitting her.

The company said it disabled Stephen's account within 23 minutes of receiving the first report about the video of the fatal shooting and two hours after receiving any report.
