Instagram will Now Work Offline to Save Data and Attract More Users

Instagram For Android Gets Offline Mode

Instagram For Android Gets Offline Mode

We've known about Instagram's plans to add offline capabilities to its app for a couple of months, and yesterday the news was made official at the Facebook Developer Conference (F8). As one might expect, this support has only been announced for the beta version of the Android app as of now, but it should make its way to iOS at some point as well. You will still be able to leave comments, like posts, save posts (although putting them into the new collections feature wasn't mentioned), and even unfollow people. The mode is primarily aimed at developing countries that often face low or limited data connectivity options. Everything you create or respond to while offline will then be synced with Instagram's servers automatically, as soon as you connect to the Internet again. It's also good if you know you're heading somewhere without signal, the Underground for example, as you'll still be able to get your Instagram fix. You will be able to still see the content that was previously loaded before you lost Internet. 80 percent of the community is outside of the U.S., and as our platform grows, Instagram must perform across an increasing variety of devices and networks to keep people connected. The next time your phone accesses the internet, Instagram will go back through this history and complete each of those actions.

Moreover, Instagram users can explore your own profile even in offline mode.

Instagram has not only copied Stories from Snapchat, it has succeeded in reinventing the feature; attracting millions of people daily.
