Malcolm Butler signs tender with Patriots, making him available for trade

Malcolm Butler has signed his tender from the New England Patriots, opening the door for a potential trade.

In March, Michael Giardi of CSN New England reported Butler was "frustrated" by the Patriots' position and wanted to play elsewhere.

The NFL's 2017 regular-season schedule is set to be announced later this week with the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots hosting the opening game on September 7.

The trade talks between the Saints and Patriots for cornerback Malcolm Butler could heat back up very soon.

"I think our philosophy has always been that we want to put good football players on our football team, regardless of position", Caserio said.

A new two per cent speculation tax on property owners who don't pay income tax in B.C.is projected to raise $200 million annually. The credit would apply to each rental unit, so multiple renters sharing a single residence wouldn't receive a cumulative benefit.

This removes the opportunity for Butler to sign as a free agent with another organization. He was named to the Pro Bowl following the 2015 season.

Butler visited the New Orleans Saints last month, but they declined to sign him to an offer sheet that could have required them to compensate New England with their first-round draft pick, No. 11 overall.

While fans would love the last, with Butler playing one of the cornerback spots for one more season. There's also a decent chance they make a trade before the draft in hopes of getting back into Day 1.

After trading the team's second-round pick to the Carolina Panthers for defensive end Kony Ealy, the Patriots aren't scheduled to make a selection this year until pick number 72.

Butler was given a first-round tender by the Patriots earlier this offseason, but the two sides could not work out a long-term extension.
