It is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, the studio that produced Modern Warfare 3 and Advanced Warfare. And, interestingly enough, this move helped Call of Duty stand out from the crowd since so many games used World War II as their backdrop in this era.

So it seems like this year's Call of Duty game is leaving no stone unturned to leave its mark for many years to come.

"This is what our dedicated community of Call of Duty players and Sledgehammer Games, which has been developing this year's title, are the most excited about". One can expect that will change soon, however, the game will be formally disclosed in a Livestream on this month. We'll report more next week when the official unveiling happens. Before that, the founders, Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield, were among the lead development staff of Visceral Games's revolutionary horror title, Dead Space. Given that this is a game set in World War II, this isn't exactly a huge surprise. You'll be able to play with friends through this "next-level standalone game experience full of unexpected, adrenaline-pumping moments".

There has been a lot of speculation that the game will revisit the premise of the first two Call of Duty Games set place during the Invasion of Normandy, better known as D-Day.

Last adventure ahead for NASA's Cassini spacecraft at Saturn
At first glance, it looks like a mere white dot, but it is actually an image of the Earth in between the icy rings of Saturn. The spacecraft will dive in between Saturn and its rings to study its composition before falling into planet's atmosphere.

There was no confirmation today on which platforms the new game will be launched, so there's still a chance something will be released on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. Let's see what Activision and Sledgehammer Games has to reveal about the games official release on 26th April.

As of now, no other updates has been given about "Call of Duty: WWII" aside from the released blog statement.

Now that Call of Duty: WW2 has officially been announced, gamers are looking forward to pre-ordering the upcoming shooter.

Sony has had timed exclusivity on map packs dating back to Call of Duty: Ghosts in 2013.
