Prince Sold More Albums Than Any Artist Since Death

Check out the performance of the song "Purple Rain." in the film below.

Events on tap range from concert performances by Prince's former bandmates to panel discussions.

January 2017: Prince becomes the best-selling artist of 2016, moving 2.2 million units, beating Beyonce and Adele, reported Forbes.

"Because I was so emotional a year ago I said I must be here on the anniversary", he said. Maybe he said it in just being adamant about seeing us again. Among those taking part will be members of Prince's band the Revolution, who will open a 26-date tour as part of the commemoration.

Newly unsealed documents have revealed more about the days before Prince's death, including his struggle with opioid addiction. Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' number one hit "Uptown Funk" was reminiscent of a song by The Time, and Hozier and Este Haim covered The Time's "Jungle Love" at Coachella. He performed a medley that included "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore", "Condition of the Heart", "Diamonds and Pearls" and "The Beautiful Ones".

However, Comerica Bank & Trust and Paisley Park Enterprises, which manages Prince's estate, sued to stop the release, claiming it was "violating the terms of [Boxill's] agreement with Prince 'for his personal gain at the expense of the Prince Estate, '" reported The New York Times.

He worked at Prince's Paisley Park studios for 14 years, starting around the release of 1988′s Lovesexy album, before quitting following the birth of his son Duncan. He wrapped with an emotional "Purple Rain" and earned cheers and a standing ovation from those watching him on screen.

Light also feels that being able to watch footage of Prince is what's most needed right now to cement his legacy.

In related news, it was just announced that Prince sold more albums in 2016 than any other artist. "For me to be front-row-center to some of the most astonishing guitar playing of all time is an incredible gift, for sure".
