Ronaldo landmark as Madrid wins 2-1, ends Bayern record run

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first man to rack up 100 European goals with a brace in Real Madrid's 2-1 win at Bayern Munich - but warned a place in the last four of the Champions League was still not secure.

When Arturo Vidal headed the hosts into a 25th-minute lead, Bayern appeared on course for a 17th consecutive European home victory, but the game turned following Vidal's missed penalty and Ronaldo equalised with a fine volley early in the second period.

"It will be more hard in Madrid, but we still have a chance, we are still alive".

Robert Lewandowski was back in Bayern Munich training on Sunday following the club's scoreless draw with Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday. We were impotent in the first half, not good enough in the second.

Ronaldo is also the leading goal scorer in the Champions League. With our second-half display, in which we regained possession a lot and played very well and with the chances we created, it would have been better had we managed to come away from here having scored another goal. With patience and by winning the ball from our opponents, the second half was very good.

"We have to rest well because we have a Liga game quickly", he said.

Bayern played the last half an hour a man down after centre-back Javi Martinez was sent off for two fouls on Ronaldo within three minutes of each other. "Bale felt something at half time, and as always we didn't want to take a risk", Zidane said.

Can Carlo Ancelotti's Bayern Munich recover from a goal down against the reigning Champions League holders to knock out Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night?

Real Madrid took a significant advantage in Munich by winning 2-1.

"We don't have a big chance, but we still have a chance - we're still alive", said Ancelotti.

Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer kept Bayern in the tie with a string of saves and believes his team can book a sixth straight semi-finals berth. The team also had a goal by Sergio Ramos disallowed for offside not long before the final whistle.

"Gareth is not going to be with us against Sporting, that is clear", Zidane said at his pre-match media conference.

"Maybe Real Madrid could have killed the qualification if they scored another goal but they didn't score and we try our best on Tuesday".
