Ossoff Only Earned 1.3 Percent More Than Clinton In Georgia's 6th

Republican runoff candidate Karen Handel didn't mention him in her speech on Tuesday night. Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Dearborn), who represents Michigan's 12th Congressional District, took some time during her break to talk with Stephen Henderson on Detroit Today.

President Donald Trump mocked Democrats for failing to win special congressional elections in Kansas and Georgia, but Republicans still have cause to worry about 2018 after their candidates fared worse than expected.

Ossoff, who received 48.1 percent of the vote, will face Republican Karen Handel, who came in second with 19.8 percent, in an election on June 20. Trump won the Southern state by about 5 percentage points in November's election.

"Handel's career as a big-spending career politician will haunt her candidacy", Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee press secretary Evan Lukaske said in a memo.

"I felt like Gray was the least of a politician", he said.

"I think we did pretty well in November", he added.

"Dems failed in Kansas and are now failing in Georgia".

"Karen Handel, living the high life", the commercial ends.

Ossoff made opposition to Trump a central part of his campaign.

Shortly after taking office, Trump put Iran "on notice" and slapped new sanctions on the country for its ballistic missile program.

Ossoff will no doubt try to capitalize on anti-Trump energy among Democrats while appealing to moderate Republicans in the conservative district.

But he fell short of the 50 per cent of votes needed to send him straight to Washington.

DuBose Porter, chairman of the Georgia Democratic Party, said the district offers the flawless setting for Democrats to prove their momentum heading into 2018.

"She's the person who supports Donald Trump's efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act".

Trump took late interest in the election to fill the old House seat of Health & Human Services Secretary Tom Price in recent days, tweeting repeatedly about it and recording a robocall calling on Republicans to turn out for the race.

The [Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee] will invest in a wide swath of races, but the list begins with races where the Republican House members are in Democratic-behaving districts as of the 2016 election. Eleven Republican candidates combined to receive a majority of the vote in the so-called "jungle primary", coming in at 51 percent.

Ossoff collected more than $500,000 in donations after the Tuesday vote, and is said to be using the money for a barrage of ads, the Journal reported.

"Going forward, if Democrats see success in Georgia, that could energize and mobilize more Democrats elsewhere", she says. "Bring it on!" he said.

"BIG "R" win with runoff in Georgia". That could increase the odds of Republican losses in swing districts where Trump's brand of conservatism is off-putting to fiscally conservative but socially moderate voters. In fact, Trump arguably gave Ossoff his opening in the first place.
