Facebook has also onboarded as a partner, telecom giant Bharti Airtel, which will deploy over 20,000 wi-fi hotspots over the next few months. Currently, Express WIFI is available in four Indian states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Meghalaya and Uttarakhand. Before coming to India, the Express Wi-Fi initiative was successfully launched in Kenya and is under testing process in countries like Tanzania, Nigeria and Indonesia.

As mentioned on the Facebook Internet.org webpage, Express Wi-Fi Project aims to empower local entrepreneurs to help provide quality internet access to their neighbors and make a steady income.

Facebook on Thursday launched Express WiFi service that offers Internet facility through public hotspots to users in rural parts of India.

SpaceX Just Launched A Top-Secret Spy Satellite
The mission was SpaceX's first for the Department of Defense, a customer Musk has been trying to do business with for a while now. SpaceX has since won two launch contracts from the Air Force to send up Global Positioning System satellites in 2018 and 2019.

This isn't a problem with Express Wi-Fi since it basically acts as a bridge between ISPs and local entrepreneurs to provide consumers with low-priced high-bandwidth data. According to Munish Seth, regional head for Facebook Connectivity Solutions in APAC, they chose to partner with Bhati Airtel to expand the Express WiFi footprint in India and that things are already in the planning stages. Only 390 million people connected to the Internet according to TRAI's report (Telecom Regulatory Authority Of India). Express WiFi provides an "affordable" but unrestricted access to the internet. Facebook, which has a user base of 213 million in India, has plans to collaborate with telcos like Reliance Jio, Vodafone and the government-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to launch more public Wi-Fi hotspots in India.

However, regulators and Internet activists were concerned about the fairness of Facebook and its partners essentially acting as Internet gatekeepers by determining which websites could be accessed. He said that this Express Wi-Fi would empower millions of Indians. Indeed, many would think of Facebook as having a social conscience because of the way Facebook still proactively tries to address the various social issues plaguing the platform.

Free Basics ran afoul because it didn't offer unbiased and equal access for all to the internet. These retailers will be able to sell hotspot access at a reasonable rate that they and the ISP decide, not Facebook. "They also help Indians connect to the internet easily and for an affordable rate." . Now, apparently, it is also trying to increase the number of internet users in India.
