Teen's plea for free Wendy's nuggets sets retweet record

Carter Wilkerson is approaching top retweet of all time

A man's call for a year's supply of free chicken nuggets has become Twitter's most retweeted post of all time.

On April 5, Carter Wilkerson asked the Wendy's Twitter account how many retweets he needed to get free chicken nuggets for a year.

While Wilkerson has not yet reached 18 million, his tweet about nuggets has earned him 3.4 million retweets and 900,000 likes.

That's right: Carter is now the record holder for most retweeted tweet ever. But with 3.4m retweets, today it knocked Ellen DeGeneres' famous Oscars selfie off the top spot as the most retweeted tweet of all time. Wendy's, playing along, set the bar high: 18 million. "Consider it done", Carter responded. Thanks to you're help and support we were able to raise $100k for @DTFA and beat @TheEllenShow record!

But Carter took the challenge in stride, writing: 'GAME ON, ' adding that the fast food chain had pledged to donate $100,000 to the Dave Thomas Foundation, an adoption charity named after the eatery's late founder, if Carter outpaced Ellen. Twitter confirmed the record to The Associated Press on Tuesday.

'Judgment on reasons for reshuffle encroaches executive realm'
Judge Bashier Vally made the order in the North Gauteng High Court a short while ago. The presidency was not immediately available to comment.

His plea for retweets was shared almost 3 million times in less than a week, receiving attention from tech giants like Amazon, Microsoft and Google.

In exchange, DeGeneres offered Wilkerson a year's supply of Ellen underwear and a big-screen TV, warning that if his tweet surpassed hers as it has now, she'd take back the gifts.

Watch the clip (below) to see what might be the last of the chicken nugget loving teen!

The guy got his nuggets, Wendy's got a bunch of free promotion, and the Dave Thomas Foundation will be able to do more good in the world.
