Everton coach Koeman gives ultimatum to Barkley

Barkley has just one more year on his contract with Everton but has so far refused to put pen to paper on a new deal as he considers his future.

According to Daily Mail, Tottenham and Arsenal are competing to lure Ross Barkley from Everton, with Spurs being the favorites to complete the signing.

Koeman publicly told Barkley to sign a new contract or leave the club last month and has now increased the pressure on the youngster's head with a deadline to decide. "The board is working a long time for Ross to stay for a long period", said the Dutchman.

"I think if you need [this much time] then you have doubts".

And it would appear that such high-jinks are commonplace in the Everton dressing room because we got another glimpse of what the players get up to behind closed doors courtesy of Romelu Lukaku's Instagram on Thursday.

Joey Logano penalized by NASCAR for auto set-up
It's the first time NASCAR has "encumbered" a race win since the encumber term was introduced into NASCAR lexicon in 2016. The crew chief suspension can range from one to three races and the points penalty can range from 10 to 40 points.

"The situation remains that we have offered him a contract, they [Barkley, his agent and the Everton board] have had several meetings about that contract and this is what he needs to sign if he likes to stay".

As a result, Everton should have little problem moving Barkley on in the summer if he refuses to extend past 2018. However, would the 23-year-old be able to find a genuine consistency before Mourinho loses his patience? "I don't know, it's up to the player, he needs to make a decision".

Ronald Koeman has the goal of compiling a club capable of breaking into the Premier League top four, with a big summer transfer window expected at the Merseyside outfit. I can't make him better in that, but I can make him better in other aspects.

Standard Sport exclusively revealed in December that Mauricio Pochettino has been monitoring the England international's contract negotiations.
