US President Trump to receive Russian FM Lavrov in White House

Lavrov arrived in Washington in the evening of May 9.

The Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov is set to appear for diplomatic talks in the White House for the first time in four years.

Trump "raised the possibility of broader cooperation on resolving conflicts in the Middle East and elsewhere", according to a White House statement.

The stigma of the Russian Federation investigations has been impossible for Mr Trump to shake.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries deteriorated last month after USA airstrikes targeted the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a Russian ally.

Everton coach Koeman gives ultimatum to Barkley
As a result, Everton should have little problem moving Barkley on in the summer if he refuses to extend past 2018. I can't make him better in that, but I can make him better in other aspects.

The talks came a day after Trump fired the FBI director who was overseeing an investigation into Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election. It is yet another sign that the relationship between the United States of America and Russian Federation is improving under the newly elected president Donald Trump after it hit the lowest point since the cold war under the Obama administration. Russia's Foreign Ministry tweeted a photo of Trump shaking hands with Lavrov and the Russian Embassy posted another of the president greeting another participant in the meeting: Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, a central character in various Russia-related investigations because of his contacts with several individuals close to Trump.

Less than a month into Trump's presidency, he fired his national security adviser, Michael Flynn, saying Flynn misled senior administration officials about his pre-inauguration talks with Kislyak.

"We believe the U.S.is really interested in that", Lavrov said, acknowledged details of the plan still needed to be worked out.

"We shall see", said Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, right, in answer to a question about if US Russia relations were improving, during a meeting with Montenegro's Prime Minister Dusko Markovic Monday, May 8, 2017, at the State Department in Washington. The would-be safe zones would not cover areas where the US -led coalition is fighting IS. The White House declined a request for confirmation.
