Why U.S. should get used to the North's ICBMs

The missile was first seen publicly in a military parade in Pyongyang on April 15. "He really can't oppose it anymore", said Hong Moon-jong, a member of the conservative Liberty Korea Party, the second-largest party with 107 seats, behind the 120 seats held by the ruling party.

North Korea on Monday boasted it successfully launched a new type of "medium long-range" ballistic rocket that can carry a heavy nuclear warhead, an escalation of its nuclear program that the U.N. Security Council warned could bring new sanctions on Pyongyang.

The Council demanded North Korea conduct no further nuclear and ballistic missile tests, adding it was ready to impose new and tougher sanctions on the regime.

"The launch of such ballistic missiles is a serious threat to our country", Abe said, considering the action a grave threat to the region and a violation of United Nations resolutions on North Korea's arms programs.

The statement stresses the importance of working to reduce tensions and maintain peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.

The statement also condemned an earlier ballistic missile launch by Pyongyang on April 28 - following that launch, Washington began talks with China on possible new United Nations sanctions.

The UN Security Council is due to meet on Tuesday to discuss the North's latest missile launch, diplomats said.

He added that the launch violates the Security Council resolution, and said that Guterres has called calls on North Korea to "ensure full compliance with its global obligations". And if a test fails, it is much more challenging to identify the type of missile launched, especially considering Pyongyang's lack of reporting on tests that go awry.

These Were The Most Popular Baby Names Of 2016
Since the now commander-in-chief started his campaign trail, the name Donald has decreased in popularity among new parents. The most popular baby names for 2016 are pretty familiar: Noah for boys and Emma for girls.

Earlier on Monday, North Korea's KCNA state news agency said the test of a "newly developed mid/long-range strategic ballistic rocket, Hwasong-12" had gone to plan.

But he slammed the latest missile test as a "reckless provocation" after holding an emergency meeting with national security advisers.

Experts are viewing the launch as an escalation in Pyongyang's nuclear program, and an indication the North has made major advances in its quest to develop a ballistic missile capable of reaching the US.

The missile came down "so close to Russian soil. the president can not imagine that Russia is pleased", it added in a statement.

North Korean news reports are often exaggerated - Pyongyang has threatened for decades to reduce Seoul to a "sea of fire", for instance - but Monday's claim, if confirmed, would mark another advance toward the North's goal of fielding a nuclear-tipped missile capable of reaching the US mainland. Through sanctions and restrictions on technology transfers, the worldwide community was so far only able to delay and increase costs for North Korea, but otherwise has failed to stop the country's nuclear ambitions. Kim's ambassador to China said in Beijing on Monday it would continue such test launches "any time, any place".

The adoption of the statement came after Pyongyang announced the success of a mid- to long-range ballistic rocket test Sunday.

The state-run news organization also said that, after the launch, Jong Un "hugged officials in the field of rocket research, saying that they worked hard to achieve a great thing". It was sacked from a test site in Kusong, North Korea, and uses liquid fuel, according to ABC.
