Dozens injured by Israeli forces in Palestine protests

The protest was held in support of hundreds of Palestinians in Israeli jails on hunger strike since April 17.

They called for a U.N. General Assembly emergency session to discuss the strike, as well as alleged Israeli attempts to force feed prisoners on hunger strikes, another violation of worldwide law.

Initially called for by Fateh-affiliated prisoners, most notably imprisoned senior Fatah official Marwan Barghouthi, the strike has been joined by other prisoners from various Palestinian political factions. We urge the rest of the worldwide community also to speak up to support the demands of Palestinian prisoners and to insist that Israel immediately enters into serious dialogue with the prisoners about their demands before it is too late. Some have managed to pressure Israel into releasing them, although some have been re-detained.

The incident took place near a checkpoint where the day before, an Israeli settler opened fire at Palestinians who pelted his vehicle with rocks at a protest in solidarity with the hunger-strikers. He said 30 fainted after inhaling tear gas.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that between 30 and 40 people had been injured throughout the territories, mostly by tear gas and rubber bullets. They were all treated at the scene.

Why U.S. should get used to the North's ICBMs
The missile came down "so close to Russian soil. the president can not imagine that Russia is pleased", it added in a statement. The adoption of the statement came after Pyongyang announced the success of a mid- to long-range ballistic rocket test Sunday.

The protesters pelted his vehicle with stones, and the Israeli man opened fire, killing one Palestinian and wounding an Associated Press photographer who was covering the unrest.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) - Hundreds of Palestinian protesters clashed on Friday with Israeli forces at rallies across the West Bank in support of hunger-striking prisoners whose fast is now in its 33rd day. The Israeli settler who shot and wounded a Palestinian man who threw rocks at his vehicle was detained, but was released after proving it was in self-defense.

The man and his wife, who also was in the vehicle, told Ynet that the rioters encircled the auto and they feared they would be lynched.

They were transferred to hospital for medical treatment, where their conditions were described as moderate.
