Most of the fatalities were caused by falling threes and structures carried by the wind, including a metal fence and a bus stop.

The winds also disrupted the train services around the region and dozens of flights from Moscow's airports were delayed.

The exact death toll is unclear, but Russian news agencies are reporting between six and 11 fatalities.

In the city, the hurricane uprooted about 3,500 trees and damaged roofs of more than 140 high-rise buildings and administrative buildings, as well as over 1,500 cars.
