Girl Soccer Player Mistaken For Boy Gets Team Disqualified From Tournament

The Springfield Soccer Club has disqualified a team because they think one of the players "looks like a boy" according to Pink News.

When she and her teammates were about to play in the finals of the Springfield Soccer Club girls tournament on Sunday, they were disqualified because she "looks like a boy".

On Tuesday the organizers released a statement to WOWT 6 claiming that a typo on the roster led to the team's disqualification.

So, they showed tournament organizers her insurance card and other documentation to prove her gender, but it wasn't enough.

Even though she is only 8 years old, her skills permitted her to join the 11-year-old team, The Omaha Azzuri Cachorros.

In response to the story, some of USA soccer's biggest legends, Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach, have taken to social media to show support for Hernandez and encourage her not to let this incident discourage her.

Her dad, Gerardo Hernandez said his daughter was "shocked" by the move.

The Hernandez family, Mili's team and the Springfield club's attorney have not returned Associated Press messages.

"Just because I look like a boy doesn't mean I am a boy", she explained.

Transportation and warehousing added 3,600 jobs, with warehousing and storage showing minimum change. The manufacturing sector lost 1,000 jobs in May, breaking a five-month streak of factory job growth.

Hamm also took to Twitter to invite Hernandez to her TeamFirst Soccer Academy.

"While Nebraska State Soccer did not oversee the Springfield Tournament, we recognize that our core values were simply not present this past weekend at this tournament and we apologize to this young girl, her family and her soccer club for this unfortunate misunderstanding", the statement read.

Torres said: "Even if it was a mistake, they did not need to humiliate her or kick the entire team off the field".

Mili's team had advanced to the tournament finals when it was suddenly disqualified.

They checked the roster and noticed that Mili, who has short dark hair, was listed as a boy on the team's regular-season roster and the roster for the tournament, Bianco said.

"Mili, don't EVER let anyone tell you that you aren't ideal just as you are. i won championships with short hair". She said: "There's other tournaments that I can play in". "When my hair starts to grow, I just put it short because I've always had short hair", says Mili, "I didn't like my hair long".

Milagros "Mili" Hernandez loves soccer, and she's good at it. The girl wears her hair cut short.

However, she won't let it stop her from playing.

As for Mili's hair, the reason she keeps it short is simple.
