The country could be plunged into uncertainty for weeks as Theresa May seeks to form a government, if her Conservative party has lost its overall majority as an exit poll and near-complete results indicate.

But media reports suggest they had demanded the departure of May's joint chiefs of staff, Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill, as the price for allowing the 60-year-old vicar's daughter to stay in office.

"The reason for the disappointing result was not the absence of support for Theresa May and the Conservatives but an unexpected surge in support for Labour", Timothy said in an article published on the ConservativeHome blog.

"While Theresa May is well within the political mainstream and proven to be a solid and reliable unionist, Jeremy Corbyn is beyond the pale", the leader also said. Senior Conservatives had reportedly made their resignations a condition for supporting the prime minister's leadership in the new government. After three recounts, Labour took the wealthy London constituency of Kensington from the Conservatives by just 20 votes.

The prime minister was the alpha and the omega of the Conservative campaign, which emblazoned her name in huge lettering on its posters and buses. The Northern Ireland party would will provide the necessary support and votes in the House of Commons. With only 319 seats instead of the 326 needed for a majority, May is now a weakened party leader, especially when it comes to the issue of Brexit.

Mr Corbyn believes that without an outright majority Mrs May's position is vulnerable and he intends to oppose the Queen's Speech in an attempt to bring down her administration.

Northern Ireland is the only part of the U.K.in which same-sex marriage is illegal.

Hundreds march in USA demanding Trump investigation
As 1010 WINS' Roger Stern reports, the topic weighed heavily on the minds of the people at New York City's march at Foley Square . The rallying in Washington on the National Mall is being held within blocks of a pro-Trump rally outside of the White House.

"Now, of course, if she's [May] got to be constantly making deals throughout this parliament, or indeed if she falls and there's a lot of negotiations or a lot of discussion as to whether she'll be leading this Conservative minority government".

"I could not care less what people get up to in terms of their sexuality". In fact, without seriously analyzing the results, the media have all but joined Labour politicians in calling for British Prime Minister Teresa May to resign.

The media has become so biased - and that includes even the BBC - which I used to respect for its objective and comprehensive reporting in most areas; but not when it comes to politics in Europe or the United States.

But the wooing of the DUP risks upsetting the political balance in Northern Ireland by aligning London more closely with the pro-British side in the divided province, where a power-sharing government with Irish nationalists is now suspended. She called the snap election to win a clear mandate for her plan to take Britain out of the EU's single market and customs union in order to cut immigration.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, whose energetic campaign defied predictions of a crushing defeat, told May to quit, saying she had "lost votes, lost support and lost confidence".

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she assumed Britain still wanted to leave the European Union and that talks must start quickly.

She said: "We will enter discussions with the Conservatives to explore how it may be possible to bring stability to our nation at this time of great challenge". May's collapse in the polls and the Tory loss of its previous majority has now given the hard-left Corbyn a new lease on life, and he will doubtless contest the next election in hopes of becoming the first Labour leader not named Tony Blair to win an election since Harold Wilson in 1974.
