US Military Confirms Airstrikes Killed and Wounded Afghan Partners

The Afghan army soldier opened fire and killed the Americans, according to USA and Afghan officials.

Though initial reports said two service members had been killed, USA officials later upped the number of fatalities to three.

During such assaults, members of the Afghan security forces are known to target USA and other North Atlantic Treaty Organisation soldiers.

The incident occurred in the surrounding area of Nad Ali district late on Friday night during a joint operation conducted by Afghan forces and worldwide troops, said Omar Zwak, provincial governor spokesman.

"A number of Taliban were also killed in the air strike", Zhwak said. But the Afghan Taliban claimed that one of its members had infiltrated Afghan forces, opened fire on USA troops and killed four in Nangarhar province, according to private SITE Intelligence Group.

"Today around noon an Afghan commando opened fire on United States troops in Achin district, killing two American soldiers", provincial spokesman Attaullah Khogyani said earlier. The Afghan special forces units have quickly become the most reliable force in the more than 15-year-old war, American officials believe.

Hundreds march in USA demanding Trump investigation
As 1010 WINS' Roger Stern reports, the topic weighed heavily on the minds of the people at New York City's march at Foley Square . The rallying in Washington on the National Mall is being held within blocks of a pro-Trump rally outside of the White House.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban, wrote in a WhatsApp message that the attacker was a Taliban infiltrator. Details of this attack will be forthcoming. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of American heroes". "We are aware of an incident in eastern Afghanistan", the US-led military coalition said in a brief statement.

Air raids by USA fighter jets have sharply increased in recent months, just as the White House considers requests from military commanders to send thousands more troops to Afghanistan.

Saturday's attack came just hours after an errant United States air strike killed and wounded at least six Afghan policemen in southern Helmand province, in the latest "friendly fire" incident.

Khogyani said that the Afghan soldier had been killed during the attack.

The US confirmed the incident as a "friendly-fire" incident and has promised an investigation. The three other USA soldiers killed in Achin earlier this year "make up the entirety of US combat fatalities in Afghanistan in 2017", according to the Washington Post.
