Tim Hague, right, chose to swap the UFC cage for a boxing ring The Canadian fighter's friends and family are at his bedside as he fights for his life.

Hague, a five-fight UFC veteran, had been in critical condition in a Canadian hospital after his knockout loss to former Edmonton Eskimos football player Adam Braidwood at Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Hague's head bounced hard off the canvas as he fell.

"As many of you know, Tim suffered a severe knockout in his boxing match last night".

Jackie Neil said in a brief emailed statement on Saturday that her brother, Tim Hague, is in critical condition.

But it was backstage in the dressing room where Hague's main issues began, as the fighter soon began to fall desperately ill in the aftermath of the event.

Harry Kane has set his sights on becoming the permanent England captain after his heroics against Scotland . If you manage to score in stoppage time to take something from it, you go away from any game fairly happy.

Hague would eventually be able to slowly make his way out of the ring under his own steam, but backstage it quickly became clear that something wasn't right and he was rushed to hospital, where he'd immediately undergo sugery for bleeding on the brain.

Hague had taken serious punishment in the contest, having been knocked down twice in the first round before the ultimate fight-ending knockout in the second.

Tim is now in a coma. "We are all with him".

Fightful would like to extend our condolences to Hague's friends, family and fans. But after that loss, with a 10-4 record overall and 1-3 in the promotion, he was let go again.

Alarmingly, earlier this year Hague was also competing in what's known as "superboxing" bouts - essentially boxing with MMA gloves, and was known to have been KO'd in just 40 seconds as recently as April 7th.
