Amit Shah:No Chance Of India Pakistan Series At Their Home Grounds

The Sena's stance on Kovind's candidature in the upcoming election will be considered crucial as the party is a BJP partner both at the center and in Maharashtra.

Calling Narendra Modi the most popular leader since Independence, Shah said the Prime Minister was making all efforts to transform India into a world power by 2022, when the nation celebrates 75 years of freedom. The Sena, which has often been critical of the BJP and the Modi government, recently suggested the name of M S Swaminathan, the father of India's Green Revolution, for President.

Virtually accusing the BJP of playing Dalit vote-bank politics, the Shiv Sena on Monday said if the ally had put forth Ram Nath Kovind's name merely to capture the community's votes, it would not support him.

With the Shiv Sena vocally expressing its views independently on the Presidential election, Shah is expected to bring the Maharashtra ally on board for the July 17 poll.

Sena leaders said that with Shah's visit to Matoshree, Uddhav was likely to support an NDA candidate, provided the Sena is kept in the loop about the nomination.

If the Shiv Sena were to refuse to go along with the BJP's choice for the Rashtrapati Bhavan, it risks the plausible mid-term elections to the Maharashtra State Legislature.

But those efforts have been blunted by a massive boom in production by US shale operators, who have become much more efficient. Benchmark Brent crude settled 43 cents higher at $48.72 a barrel while US light crude settled up 38 cents to $46.46 a barrel.

He further said that the grand old party would not comment on NDA's Presidential nominee as of now and would meet on June 22 to formally discuss the matter.

The party has given certain suggestions, including fielding a politician acceptable across a broad spectrum, while indicating that it is open to supporting NDA, the people cited earlier said.

As the war between Shiv Sena and BJP has intensified after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections this February, the opposition is leaving no stone unturned to make the most of the situation.

In the Presidential polls of 2007 and 2012, the Sena deviated from the NDA to vote for the Congress nominees: Pratibha Patil and Pranab Mukherjee respectively. "We do not support this", he said.

The separatists in West Bengal are heavily armed and get support from various quarters, though Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is trying her best by inviting them for talks, the Sena said.

"Farmers are boiling with ire over remunerative prices and loan waiver. The Sena is ready for the polls", he added. "Only after being proposed by the government or by the ruling party, we can take a decision".
