Shooter went to GOP baseball practice with list of names

USA congressman Steve Scalise has shown improvement over the last 36 hours after being shot by a gunman who opened fire on Republican lawmakers at a baseball practice earlier in the week.

Mika, a MI native, was one of five people shot when a gunman opened fire Wednesday as the Republican team practiced in Alexandria, Virginia.

Scalise, a congressman from Louisiana who is the No. 3 House Republican, suffered injuries to internal organs, broken bones and severe bleeding after being shot in the left hip on a baseball field where he and other lawmakers were practicing for a charity baseball game.

MedStar Washington Hospital Center announced on Thursday that Congressman Steve Scalise (R-La.) had a second surgery and was still in critical condition.

Mr Mika's family said he was still in intensive care but was able to communicate through notes - and had signed the game ball from Friday's congressional baseball game.

The shot fired at Scalise left perhaps hundreds of bullet fragments internally, many of which may never be removed because surgery might be more risky than leaving them in place, Sava said. "I feel a lot more confident and a lot more optimistic than I did two or three days ago".

Nonetheless, said Sava, "we fully expect him to be able to walk" and "hopefully run".

Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation officials declined to confirm media accounts that the list of names Hodgkinson carried was a "kill list"; they said the names were listed without any other comment.

The Scientific Discovery That Explains Stonehenge and the Summer Solstice
Now, you're probably wondering, what is solstice exactly? You don't need to fly far out into space for this, fortunately. There will be about 14 hours, 56 minutes and 18 seconds of daylight both Tuesday and Wednesday in Baltimore.

A huge ovation came from the crowd, which swelled to a record 24,959, when Special Agent David Bailey, one of the Capitol Police officers injured in the attack on Republicans at their practice in Virginia on Wednesday, threw out the first pitch.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was wounded along with four others.

Scalise, 51, and four others were wounded when an IL man opened fire Wednesday morning on the team practice in Alexandria.

Law enforcement officials identified the shooter as 66-year-old James Hodgkinson of Belleville, Illinois, who later died from injuries sustained during a shootout with police on the scene.

President Donald Trump visited Scalise at the hospital Wednesday night and later said in a speech, "He's a great fighter and he's going to be OK, we hope".

The Louisiana Republican was shot in the hip Wednesday morning in the baseball practice shooting by an IL man with grudges against President Donald Trump and the GOP.

Addressing Scalise, Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., said, "You are not alone. So we all owe Steve a big, big thank you". The two have enjoyed a long-running ribbing over the game, which Republicans won last year to break a seven-year Democratic win streak.

Lobbyist Matt Mika was shot multiple times and remains hospitalized.
