Bookies slash odds on Spurs star Harry Kane joining Man United

It is a move that would likely break the all time transfer record but, over the weekend, a Harry Kane move from Spurs to Manchester United became a legitimate prospect.

For the second successive season, Kane finished up with the Premier League's Golden Boot but a move for the 23-year-old would be problematic for United.

Tottenham have already said they could not entertain any bids for Harry Kane as the striker is settled.

Tottenham have no intention of selling Harry Kane, though Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is, and has been for some time, a keen admirer of the England worldwide.

Allen scored 33 goals in the league and a staggering 49 in all competition during the 1986-87 season, and feels Kane could match or better that tally if he remains at the club.

The Sunday Mirror report has received very little traction, since everyone seems sure that Kane is not leaving Spurs this summer.

At the opening of the transfer window, Sarah Winterburn of Football365 opined that Manchester United should scrap any and all striking targets and focus purely on the acquisition of Harry Kane.

According to the journal, the Portuguese tactician has made it clear to United CEO Ed Woodward that he would prefer spending that sort of money on the young England star, rather than bringing back Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

United would also be financially interesting to Kane, who now earns around £100,000-a-week. United have money to spend - and if they're after a world class striker, they won't get much better than Kane.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes explained: "It's early days, but such a drastic fall in odds overnight tells us all we need to know here".
