Cowboys' Lucky Whitehead says someone is demanding ransom after taking his dog

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Whitehead said that someone had broken into his house and stolen his dog Blitz. The person or people who are holding Whitehead's dog have contacted him several times by phone. He also posted a message saying the dog was home safe with its owner, which Whitehead also says is now the case. At 5:32 in the morning, another video was posted, this time showing the dog being returned to Whitehead.

The 25-year-old Whitehead told Dallas-area reporter Mike Fisher that he had never seen or heard of the rapper.

The receiver said a man asked: "How much does the dog mean to you?" and said that if Whitehead wanted his dog returned, "You got to cut a check".

Whitehead said Monday that his friend was house-sitting in Dallas during the wide out's trip to Florida when the captors broke in and snatched Blitz, along with some shoes and bags. Since bringing Blitz home nine weeks ago, Whitehead has documented their relationship on his Instagram account, with videos of Whitehead holding him and photos of him dressed up in superhero costumes and a Cowboys jersey.

Whitehead said he agreed to pay an undisclosed amount if the alleged perpetrator could prove his dog was OK.

Whitehead said a detective told him that a "burner" phone couldn't be traced.

Whitehead, whose real name is Rodney but has gone by the nickname "Lucky" since childhood, pleaded with the mysterious thieves to find it in their heart to return Blitz where he belongs.

The kidnapping of an National Football League player's dog might just offer up another worry for celebrities when it comes to what they post on social media. "It's killing me just because I wasn't there to protect him".
