Report: Cowboys WR Lucky Whitehead Arrested For Shoplifting

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said he learned of Whitehead's arrest Monday during Dallas' first day of training camp in Oxnard, California.

Court records state Whitehead was charged with shoplifting/petit larceny for under $200, which is a misdemeanor.

Whitehead failed to show up for his scheduled arraignment on July 6 and a warrant was issued for his arrest, per Prince William County General Court records. Failure to appear has been stacked on to the shoplifting charge.

Receiver Dez Bryant was admittedly close with Whitehead, but he understood the decision the Cowboys had to make.

Yet Whitehead's agent, David Rich, insists that his client was not in Virginia during the incident, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

With league punishment yet to be handed down, this won't be the last of the Cowboys' off-field antics we hear about...

Whitehead also garnered attention earlier this month after he announced his dog and other merchandise had been stolen from his home and that the dog was being held for ransom.

Whitehead would have to step away from the team during training camp for a Virginia court date August 10.

When asked if firing Whitehead was a possibility, Garrett said - "Oh, absolutely".

While his future in the National Football League is uncertain, Whitehead first must overcome this legal hurdle and convince teams that he is past minor off-the-field problems.

"I don't know who got arrested in Virginia". Star running back Ezekiel Elliott has faced no team discipline, and has been defended by owner Jerry Jones, after being accused of domestic violence, and of assault at a bar.
