Taylor Swift Trial: Everything You Need to Know About Groping Case

Taylor Swift might have to show up in a federal court in Denver on Monday

Jury selection began Monday in the civil trial involving musician Taylor Swift and a former KYGO DJ who is accused of groping her.

Jury selection for the trial begins Monday.

Swift alleged that Mueller put his hand up her skirt and grabbed her bare bottom when they took a photo together during the pre-concert fan meet-and-greet on the Denver stop of her Red tour.

Mueller charged that Swift pressured the country radio station he worked for, KYGO, to fire him from his $150,000 disc jockey job.

According to pre-trial legal documents obtained by CNN, Mueller launched a law suit in 2015 claiming Swift and her co-defendents (including her mother), falsely accused him of improperly touching the star, and is now seeking £2.3 million in damages.

In addition to Swift, who lives in Nashville, Tennessee, Mueller named her mother and a member of her team as defendants in the lawsuit. According to USA Today, Mueller's attorney will be raising the question of mistaken identity as well as claiming that Swift only filed a lawsuit when David Mueller filed on in 2015. He's seeking up to $3 million in damages.

A lot of people have taken to calling this case the Taylor Swift "butt grabbing trial", for some reason distinguishing the type of sexual assault as if you need to know anything beyond the fact that it's sexual assault.

The nine-day hearing, at Denver's Alfred A. Arraj courthouse, will be presided over by US District Judge William Martinez.

Jeff Sessions to speak in Columbus Wednesday
His nomination to a federal judgeship was not confirmed primarily because of opposition from his own state's senior U.S. If confirmed, the call will bring an end to months of hostility between Sessions and the White House.

He met the New Romantics singer backstage in a curtained-off enclosure and posed for a picture with her and Melcher before leaving. She says she wants to hold Mueller accountable and is seeking $1.

An alleged photo of the incident, later obtained by TMZ, appears to show Mueller's hand in that area of her body.

Opening statements in the case are expected sometime Tuesday, and that's when both Swift and Mueller will both have to be present.

- Andrea Swift, the singer's mother, will testify about the decision to contact Mueller's boss and not call the police.

- Greg Dent, Swift's bodyguard, may be called to testify about what he saw during the encounter.

Her lawyers have asked Lorraine Bayard de Volo, an associate professor of women and gender studies at the University of Colorado, to testify as an expert witness about how women typically react when they are sexually assaulted or harassed. An additional viewing room with 75 seats will be set up elsewhere in the courthouse, with monitors for more interested parties to watch.

Immediately after the meet-and-greet, Swift says, she confirmed the assault with a photographer and security staff, who then confronted Mueller.
