As we get closer and closer to video game release season (less than a week away), Microsoft and Sony will get increasingly more aggressive in their marketing and promotional functions in hopes of stealing away the holiday season.

Today, Microsoft announced the Xbox Games with Gold offering for September 2017, which are the on-the-house games you will receive if you're an Xbox Gold subscriber for said month.

Like usual, you can play Xbox 360 titles on your Xbox One, thanks to the console's backward-compatibility feature.

Don't forget - there's still time to grab some of August 2017's Xbox Games with Gold titles. A lesser-known coming of age story, fans of Life is unusual might find some solace in a similar, but different, type of graphic adventure game. In the second half of the month, you can pick up Battlefield 3 for free from September 16 through September 30.

Over on the Xbox 360 side of things, arcade racer Hydro Thunder Hurricane will go free from September 1 through September 15. The games that will be available include a popular racing title, a popular indie title, a popular FPS and another popular indie title was released on the Xbox 360.

On Xbox One, Live Gold members will be able to download Forza Motorsport 5: Racing Game of the Year Edition, normally priced at $39.99, for free all month long. "We've got so many passionate players, and we're going to bring all the PC and Xbox players into one place".
