Beaconsfield High School, which last week was named the top school in the county for its A-Level results, saw an improvement on its 2016 grades with top-level results increasing by five per cent.

Maths improved and achieved the second best results in the history of the school with 75 per cent at C and above.

Principal Sulina Piesse said: "We are immensely proud of our students who have worked so hard for these results and they thoroughly deserve this success".

Students at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls rose to the challenge of the new GSCEs, achieving a collection of outstanding results. Two-thirds of the students achieved at least a good pass in both Maths and English. They achieved 80 per cent pass in English and maths.

He said: "I am delighted with the GCSE results once again". A stunning 67 per cent of all grades achieved were at A*, with an equally striking 92 per cent of all grades at A* or A.

There was a clean sweep of top grades for Xii Cin Lim, pictured above, who has achieved seven A* grades and three grade 9s - results that put her in the enviable position of choosing from a range of offers from independent schools across West London.

Nine boys in particular had reason to celebrate by achieving the top grade nine in Maths.

Claire Robins, head teacher of Sir John Lawes School, congratulated students opening their GCSE results, as the school saw an increase in the number of students achieving the very highest grades. They are well and truly ready for the step-up to academic life in the sixth form. "It's great to know that all of the hard work has paid off".

There was a real buzz at Loreto College on Thursday morning as delighted students and their parents discussed results with one another.

A quarter of all students achieved six or more A*-A grades and 82 per cent of students achieved at least one A*. In Computer Science and ICT (the ECDL GCSE equivalent) 100% of grades were A* and in Further Mathematics 81% of the 47 entries were awarded the exceptional A* grade "with Distinction" or A*.

"Help with writing CVs and job applications, learning interview techniques we provide so much more including training in "soft skills" such as communication and team work through to nationally recognised qualifications, giving young people the confidence they need to achieve success".

In September 2015, DLD College London relocated to new, purpose-built premises at 199 Westminster Bridge Road, overlooking Westminster and the River Thames.
