New York Yankees: Playoff Pitching Scenario

"Miguel Cabrera was upset some of their guys got hit, " Girardi said of that series.

The game was finally about to resume when Cabrera stepped toward Romine, and the NY catcher, whose brother Andrew plays for the Tigers, took off his mask.

When Cabrera took a swing, the benches cleared and the bullpens emptied, as players ran over 100 metres to join the fight. NY hammered out 14 hits and walked three times with Chase Headley, Gary Sanchez and Didi Gregorius going deep and combining for seven RBI's while Ronald Torreyes was 4-4 with a run and an RBI.

Both teams racked up so many because the bitterness didn't end with the sixth inning brawl - nor did the unsafe pitches.

"Sanchez is going to wear it", the Hall of Famer told MLB Network (via the New York Daily News) after the game that featured three separate bench-clearing incidents and saw a total of eight players, managers and coaches ejected.

Moments before the outburst, Yankees manager Joe Girardi had been tossed for arguing about Kahnle's ejection. In the 7th inning, Yankee reliever Dellin Betances threw a pitch that hit Tigers catcher James McCann in the head.

Romine and Cabrera were ultimately ejected from the game for starting the melee.

AG Paxton: Texas will appeal voter ID ruling
Ramos had temporarily softened the state's voter ID rules for the 2016 elections, and the new law somewhat followed her lead. Because those potential voters are more likely to be black or Latino, the law was discriminatory, she said.

Detroit Tigers right-hander Michael Fulmer was named the American League Rookie of the Year in 2016 but he's mired in a full-fledged sophomore slump entering the finale of a three-game series against the visiting New York Yankees on Thursday afternoon. "I was cool. They wanted to avenge Gary Sanchez, so I was cool with that", Cabrera said.

Tigers reliever Alex Wilson and Ausmus were ejected in the eighth after Wilson hit Todd Frazier around the thigh with a pitch.

Gary Sanchez, the Yankees' catcher who was DHing, homered early in the game.

Nothing was seen due to Romine wearing his mask, but when the mask came off, it was clear that he said, "I do not have anything to say to you". Romine then tackled him and the two exchanged blows.

Sanchez, meanwhile, defended why he threw those punches.

"He said, 'Do you have a problem with me?'" said Romine, whose brother, Andrew, plays for the Tigers. Benches cleared, again, and Brett Gardner had to be separated from Jose Iglesias after the two players got into a heated argument of their own.

Ausmus was also ejected for the Tigers his 14th as a manager and fourth this season.
