Facebook Instagram down as users struggle to log

Facebook, and Instagram, one of the messaging apps it purchased years ago, were both down on Saturday morning and afternoon.

Thousands of Facebook users across the world, including Pakistan, reported on Saturday that they can not access the social media site.

Most users reported a "total blackout", meaning the site would not load, or that they were unable to log in to their accounts.

If you're having trouble with Facebook this morning, you're not alone.

Team Line-Ups & Updates: Swansea City vs Manchester United
Man U had led 1-0 at the break before the floodgates opened in a five-minute period late in the game. United's final test before the worldwide break will be a home match against Leicester next Saturday.

Some users took to rival social network Twitter to complain about the outage and poke fun at the situation. We quickly investigated and are now restoring service for everyone.

According to United Kingdom site DownDetector, which collects reports of website crashes, the problems on Facebook began at around 2.15pm on Saturday.

Facebook is down - and we don't want to over-react, but it is definitely time to panic. At its peak, more than 1,800 people said they were experiencing problems on the website. Some users received messages saying that there was a "temporary problem with this post", or an issue with a URL, and to try again in a few minutes.
