Qatar's is officially returning its ambassador to Iran

The decision by King Salman, who has adopted an aggressive Iran policy since taking the throne in 2015, was made using as an excuse the attacks on Saudi diplomatic premises by protesters angered over the execution of well-known dissident Shia cleric Nimr Baqer al-Nimr on terrorism charges without due process.

The Chadian Foreign Ministry announced closing of the embassy of Qatar in N'Djamena and requested the departure of the ambassador and diplomatic staff within 10 days over Doha's alleged attempt to destabilize the country through neighboring Libya.

Qatar restored full diplomatic relations with Iran early Thursday, disregarding the demands of Arab nations now locked in a regional dispute with the energy-rich country that it lessen its ties to Tehran.

The emirate had decided "to close the Embassy of the Republic of Chad in Doha and to give diplomats and embassy staff 72 hours to leave the country", said Qatari Foreign Minister Ahmed bin Saeed al-Rumaihi, Daily Sabah reported.
