Kohli better than Smith in limited-overs - Clarke

India vs Australia: 'RCB Quota,' Scoffs Twitter After Squad Is Announced For First 3 ODIs

Smith takes his side on tour to India for a five-match ODI series and a three-match T20 series prior to hosting England in the Ashes this winter, and Clarke is backing Kohli to lead his charges to victory against the Australians.

India's most recent ODI series was away against Sri Lanka August-September, with the tourists completing a 5-0 triumph. Former India batsman VVS Laxman, who has often been the chief tormentor of the Australians, feels that India will win the ODI series by a decent margin while Michael Clarke has predicted a different outcome.

And Clarke believes those achievements highlight clearly the field in which each man excels.

After beating Sri Lanka on their home ground, Indian team is very confident and Virat has mentioned on many occasions that he is preparing the team for 2019 cricket World Cup.

They might be one of the best in the business when it comes to the batting crease, but India skipper Virat Kohli and Australia skipper Steve Smith are not really the best of friends.

Comparisons between Kohli and Smith are inevitable, and Laxman makes no bones about the fact that he feels Kohli is a better captain. Hailed as one of the modern-day greats and a match-winner for India in limited-over cricketers, Yuvraj is slowly and steadily moving towards a fading end of his stellar career. As far as captaincy is concerned, it is very even at this stage.

"The team for the three ODIs against Australia has been selected in line with the rotation policy of the Board and accordingly Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested", All-India Senior Selection Committee chairman MSK Prasad said in a statement.

"But again, irrespective of the number of runs you score, what matters is whether your team is winning matches or not".

Once known for lethargic and unimpressive approach on the field, the Indian cricket team has come a long way in terms of setting the fielding standards in world cricket.

Clarke on the other hand said, "3-2 to the Aussies". I think this team has that aggressive intent because they've been made this way by aggressive captains. The likes of Smith, David Warner... they've got to work towards finding what is the right technique and style for these players.

"Look, they (India) have played a lot of one-day cricket, off-late".

'This team needs to back its talent as there's enough talent in the squad. I've been battling, to be honest, probably the last 18 months. Australia's last game in Chennai was back in 1996 when they beat New Zealand in a World Cup encounter.
