Advertisers squeezed over Hannity sponsorship

Alabama GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore has denied sexual harassment allegations from four women when they were merely teens

"We worked with our media partner and Fox News to stop our ad from airing during the Sean Hannity Show", the company said, responding to several tweets.

The controversy unfolded when Fox News host Sean Hannity faced backlash for supporting Roy Moore, the Alabama GOP Senate candidate who was accused of sexual misconduct with teenage girls in the 1970's.

Brands carefully scrutinize where their ads appear, snubbing outlets that might reflect badly on their image.

It was the second time this year that Mr. Hannity has faced the threat of an advertiser exodus of the type that helped cement Bill O'Reilly's exit from Fox News.

Critics of the coffee-maker destruction have said Keurig should actually be "celebrated" for pulling the ads. Last year, Kellogg's (K) pulled its ads from alt-right site Breitbart, saying the publication's views didn't align with its own values. But the calls for a boycott underscored the difficulties American companies face in a hyperpartisan era where any sort of political stance can set off online protests.

In addition to Keurig, other advertisers confirmed on Twitter over the weekend that they will not be running TV ads on the "Hannity" show: Eloquii, a plus-size women's clothing company; 23 and Me, a DNA genetic testing company; and Nature's Bounty, a vitamin manufacturer. One woman, Leigh Corfman, told The Post that Moore had a sexual encounter with her when she was 14 and he was 32.

Moore spoke on Hannity's show the next day when he continued denying the allegations.

"Thank you for your concern and for bringing this to our attention", Keurig responded to one user.

Keurig is among five USA firms that said they would pull ads from The Sean Hannity Show after the host was accused of going easy on an alleged abuser. Some wrote on Twitter that Hannity had been treated unfairly and, in their view, hadn't supported Moore.

"I am humbled and speechless and frankly laughing my ass off".

Companies commonly shift they sponsorships to protect their brand. Hannity is, in effect, signaling to would-be advertisers that this is how they'd be treated should they decide to cut ties with Fox News. Up until now it's been people burning their once favorite sports team's apparel; now the social media universe is exploding with people destroying their Keurig coffee makers.

Namely, the one-two punch of its unsurpassed convenience: The Keurig doesn't make more coffee than you need, requires no regular cleaning, and doesn't make you wait long while it brews-and it has a caffeine-addicted customer-base.

While some conservatives on Twitter have hailed the apology as a victory, others who have condemned Moore's alleged actions felt it was an unnecessary concession.
