Apple HomePod Release Delayed Until 2018

Apple's HomePod delayed until next year

The HomePod was revealed at Apple's developer conference, WWDC 2017, back in June.

"We can't wait for people to experience HomePod, Apple's breakthrough wireless speaker for the home, but we need a little more time before it's ready for our customers", Apple wrote in an email to Mashable. Apple hasn't been shy about talking up HomePod's audiophile credentials, squeezing six tweeters and a long-throw woofer - each powered by its own, custom amplifier - into the squat cylindrical design. The speaker, which can make music suggestions and adjust home temperatures, takes aim at Amazon.com Inc's (AMZN.O) Alexa feature and Echo devices.

We don't have specific reasons as to why Apple chose to put back the release of the HomePod, but this likely wasn't a light decision for Apple seeing as holiday shopping season is right around the corner.

The indirect effects will have a stronger negative impact, he said. Although Siri was early to the voice assistant party, the company is late to the smart speaker trend.

Debuts For Abraham, Loftus-Cheek and Pickford
Ruben did everything that I know he can. "He's got so many good attributes and that's why we put him into the team ". The Chelsea midfielder, now on loan at Crystal Palace , was named best afield for the night.

Though the smart speaker market is relatively new, the holiday season is traditionally the biggest time of year for sales. This is speculation, of course - unless Apple provides more information, we may never know the reason behind the delay. "The market's getting more and more competitive".

HomePod is created to work with an Apple Music subscription and iPhone 5s and above running iOS 11. Journalists at the event got a hands-on opportunity with the speaker, with release set at the time for December.

A United Kingdom price for the device is still to be confirmed, but it will be priced at $349 in the U.S. - significantly higher than both the Echo and Google Home.
