'Absolutely no collusion': Trump responds to Flynn's guilty plea

White House Transition Adviser's Emails Say Russia Threw The Election To Trump ― REPORT

White House Transition Adviser's Emails Say Russia Threw The Election To Trump ― REPORT

US President Donald Trump has said actions by his disgraced former national security adviser Michael Flynn during the presidential transition were lawful and there was no collusion between his 2016 White House campaign and Russian Federation.

Days later, then-FBI Director James Comey announced that he would not be recommending charges against Clinton for mishandling classified information on her private email server.

Flynn resigned from his post February 13 and Comey testified before Senate Intelligence Committee that in a February 14 meeting in the White House - just a day after Flynn had left - Trump asked him to drop the investigation.

The existence of the text messages was brought to the attention of Mueller's office by the inspector general's office, which has been conducting a wide-ranging investigation of the FBI's handling of the Clinton email case. He has agreed to cooperate with the investigation.

A blockbuster report hit Saturday afternoon that Special Counsel Robert Mueller removed an FBI agent from the Russian Federation investigation for reported "anti-Trump bias". He has pled guilty to those lies. A review of the texts is now underway to determine whether the two agents allowed political bias to influence their work, but regardless of what that investigation concludes, the story is sure to provide ammunition for those, like President Trump and his defenders, who have accused the Mueller investigation, FBI, and overall intelligence community of being driven by partisanship. Court records say Flynn contacted the Russian ambassador on December 22 about the Trump administration's opposition to a United Nations resolution against Israeli settlements.

This would blow up about a hundred Trump camp denials that there was coordinated high-level campaign contact with Russian Federation, and would suggest that Russia-related actions personally undertaken by Trump in 2016 (as opposed to merely the actions of his top lieutenants and/or family members) are under law enforcement scrutiny.

The nature of the messages Strzok exchanged and with whom he communicated was not immediately clear.

The White House had no immediate response on Friday to requests for comment on Mr. Flynn's guilty plea.

The New York Times first reported the agent's removal.

He was the FBI's lead investigator on the Clinton email investigation, so much so that he interviewed the former secretary of state on July 2, 2016. Several other Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and officials from the Justice Department also attended. A spokeswoman for the Justice Department said that "we are aware of the allegation and are taking any and all appropriate steps".

The statement didn't refer to any agents or officials by name.
