White House Pushes Back at Times Immigration Report: 'Outrageous'

President Donald Trump has tongue lashed countries with immigrants in the U.S., according to a New York Times report.

"Regarding the 40,000 Nigerians with visas, Trump said these people would never "go back to their huts" in Africa after experiencing the wealth of the U.S", according to the same people connected to the meeting.

He was then said to have read out a list of how many immigrants from different countries had received visas so far in 2017.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, denied on Saturday morning that Mr. Trump had made derogatory statements about immigrants during the meeting.

"General Kelly, General McMaster, Secretary Tillerson, Secretary Nielsen and all other senior staff actually in the meeting deny these outrageous claims", she said. The New York Times attributes the quote to an anonymous source and another unnamed person told of the comment by someone else at the meeting.

As tensions rose between Mr Trump and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the room was cleared - but those kicked out could reportedly still hear Mr Trump berating senior advisers. "Two officials who described the comments found them so noteworthy", the Times advised, however, "that they related them to others at the time".

Pakistan Govt Request to Facebook for Restricting Content Rise Sharply
The United Kingdom was number three in the list with 6,845 user data requests and asking for access to 8,167 user accounts. Sonderby added Facebook "carefully scrutinize" each request received for account data to ensure it's legally sufficient.

Mr. Trump has made tightening immigration a key platform of his campaign and presidency.

Trump's effort to change USA immigration policy has been a disorderly and sometimes dysfunctional process, the Times story noted, but even as he has been frustrated by the limits on presidential power, his plans have gained increasing momentum as the White House became more disciplined.

The 15,000 Haitians who came here, they "all have AIDS", he grumbled, the paper reported.

The Times report said Trump has long held contempt for immigrants, which is likely a surprise to few.

"He's basically saying, 'You people of color coming to America seeking the American dream are a threat to the white people, '" Frank Sharry, executive director of the pro-immigrant organization America's Voice, told the Times.

According to the report, "friends were calling to say he looked like a fool, Mr. Trump said", as "so many foreigners had flooded into the country since January".
