The package was gift-wrapped and filled with manure police say CBS Los Angeles' Cristy Fajardo reports

On Saturday, Trump's Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin got quite the surprise for the holidays.

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said that the call turned out to be a false alarm, adding that the package was filled with horse manure.

No one was evacuated from the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

The LAPD said the Secret Service took over the investigation.

On NBC New's local LA affiliate, aerial footage showed police inspecting a box covered in wrapping paper.

Muslim mayor of Nazareth uses Christmas to protest US' Jerusalem move
The Muslim mayor of Nazareth - the town where Jesus grew up - has announced he is cancelling Christmas events over U.S. The holy city, the Palestinians insist, is "Palestinian" and must be the capital of a future Palestinian state.

The package also included a Christmas card with negative comments about President Donald Trump and the new USA tax law signed by Trump last week.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, right, and his wife Louise Linton, left, react as Mnuchin holds up a sheet of new $1 bills, the first currency notes bearing his and U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza's signatures, at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington. They did not specify the contents of the card.

Louise Linton and Steve Mnuchin pose at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing on November 15, 2017. The package, which had "In care of the American people" written on it, was delivered to a home that neighbors Mnuchin's, despite being addressed to Mnuchin, police said.

Before being sworn in as part of the Trump Administration in February, Mnuchin worked as the finance chairman for Donald Trump's campaign for president. He has had a career in banking and finance, and previously worked for Goldman Sachs.
