Bus kills at least 4 people in Moscow driver detained

The Interior Ministry's press service in Moscow has confirmed the death of four people in the accident.

AT least four people have been killed and 15 more injured after a bus plunged into a pedestrian underpass in Russian Federation.

Another angle shows the bus seemingly stationary on the side of a snowy road before it appears to pull away in the direction of the metro station.

Moments after the incident the driver of the bus was detained by the police.

Police believe the crash wasn't an intentional attack, but caused by a possible mechanical issue or the driver losing control of the vehicle.

The crash happened on one of the busiest streets in Moscow near the Slavyanksy Boulevard metro station, Reuters reported.

Investigators are now looking into whether the smash was down to driving error or a fault with the bus. The bus went off the road and onto the steps leading into the passageway.

The people killed in the accident were crushed by the bus as it moved toward the station.

Russian news agencies reporting from the scene quoted Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin as saying that he has ordered all city buses to be checked in the aftermath of the crash.

An unnamed emergency services source told the TASS news agency that the number of fatalities had risen to five people.

Monday was an ordinary working day in Moscow.
