Buckling under pressure from India, Palestinian National Authority yesterday recalled its envoy to Pakistan for publically showing solidarity with 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed and other jihadi terrorist leaders in Rawalpindi on Friday.

Earlier, Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday said that Palestine has conveyed regrets over its ambassador's presence at an event attended by global terrorist and mastermind of 26/11 Mumbai attacks Hafiz Saeed. The envoy's participation in the rally "in the presence of individuals accused of supporting terrorism is an unintended mistake, but not justified", it said. A western diplomat based in Islamabad said, "This was a case of poor judgment by the Palestinian Ambassador".

Describing the action of Abu Ali as "unacceptable", the MEA said India's concerns "were conveyed both in New Delhi to the Palestinian ambassador and in Ramallah to the minister of foreign affairs and expatriates". We are with India in its fight against terrorism.

"Government of India has strongly conveyed to the Palestinian side that the Palestinian Ambassador in Pakistan's association with terrorist Hafiz Saeed, who is proscribed by the United Nations, at an event in Rawalpindi on 29.12.2017, is unacceptable".

Saeed, who was last month set free from a 300-day-long house arrest, has been repeatedly accused by the U.S. and India of masterminding the 2008 attacks on the Indian financial capital Mumbai that killed 166 people.

Saeed used Friday's "Tahafuz Baitul Maqdas" rally to launch a broadside against India and to rake up the Kashmir issue by linking it to Palestine.

The minimum wage for employees of smaller businesses with fewer than 11 employees will be $12/hour. The increase will be phased in over a longer period for workers in the rest of the state.

Recalled Palestinian envoy Waleed Abu Ali attended and spoke at a rally purportedly oganised to condemn the Donald Trump administration's move to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

The statement added that India expressed its unhappiness to Palestinian Ambassador and in Ramallah to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, State of Palestine.

"The Palestinian side has conveyed deep regrets over the incident and assured the Government of India that they are taking serious cognizance of their Ambassador's presence at this event".

The meeting generated sharp reactions from the foreign ministry, saying that it would take up the matter "strongly".

The rally in Rawalpindi, attended by thousands, was organized by the Defense of Pakistan Council, an alliance of religious parties dominated by Saeed's group. It is imperative to not let the right-wing, pro-Israel, pro-militarisation lobby in India exploit what happened in Rawalpindi as remotely representative of the Palestinian people and our values. Palestine, however, has consistently voted against India on the J&K issue- both in the United Nations and in OIC- for years, while criticising India's growing relationship with Israel.
