NATION-NOW Ex Google engineer Damore sues alleging discrimination against white conservative men Former Google engineer sues for discrimination

James Damore's class action lawsuit claiming that Google unfairly discriminates against white men with unpopular political views is surprising, considering the overwhelming evidence of systemic sexism and underrepresentation of women and minorities in the tech industry, a Toronto lawyer says. It also claimed that "men and women biologically differ in many ways" and "women generally (have) a harder time negotiating salary, asking for raises, speaking up and leading".

Another ex-Googler named as a plaintiff is David Gudeman, who says he was an engineer for three years until he was wrongfully terminated in December 2016.

"(Google applies) illegal hiring quotas to fill its desired percentages of women and favored minority candidates, and openly shames managers of business units who fail to meet their quotas-in the process, openly denigrating male and Caucasian employees as less favored than others."

A lawsuit filed against Google by fired developer James Damore accuses the tech giant of various instances in which conservatives and white men were discriminated against while he was with the company.

James Damore's class action lawsuit, filed January 8 with the Santa Clara Superior Court in California, alleges that employees who fit that description were "singled out, mistreated, and systematically punished and terminated from Google".

Damore was sacked from Google, and while many people cheered this move, some conservative onlookers claimed the engineer actually had a legal case against the tech giant. They are seeking monetary, non-monetary and punitive damages.

Iran suspends Telegram, Instagram access after protests
Sunday was the fourth day of protests in Iran that reportedly started against rising food and gasoline prices, according to CNN . He stressed that people have the right to express their discontent with the authorities, but called for calm and restraint.

The complaint, filed in a court in Santa Clara, California, says Damore and his colleagues "were ostracized, belittled, and punished for their heterodox political views, and for the added sin of their birth circumstances of being Caucasians and/or males".

Some legal experts have said Damore faces an uphill battle suing Google.

The suit includes allegations from other unnamed current and former employees. One was from an engineer who called Damore a misogynist "and a awful person".

After the controversy swelled, Danielle Brown, Google's then-new vice president for diversity, integrity and governance, sent a statement to staff condemning Damore's views and reaffirmed the company's stance on diversity.

The lawsuit asserts various causes of action and cites to multiple violations of the California Labor Code and the Fair Employment and Housing Act. Damore made similar claims in his memo. Damore's suit was also widely shared on the conservative social network Gab.
