South Korea is making preparations for North Korea's participation in the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games, as the two sides prepare for a rare meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

Critics called Kim's mixed message a gambit to drive a wedge between Seoul and Washington, weaken USA -led worldwide pressure and buy time for North Korea to flawless its nuclear weapons.

With only a handful of qualified winter sports athletes, analysts say North Korea is likely to send significant numbers of cheerleaders to the Pyeongchang Games, which run from February 9 to 25.

The top nuclear envoys of South Korea and Japan held talks in Seoul on Monday. It needs to receive an additional quota to compete, and its International Olympic Committee representative, Chang Ung, headed to Switzerland over the weekend for talks with IOC officials, according to Japanese media.

On "Fox News Sunday", Pompeo explained, "We want the regime to understand that, unlike before, we are intent on resolving this and it is our firm conviction that resolving this diplomatically is the correct answer but that this administration is prepared to do what it takes to assure that people in Los Angeles, in Denver, in NY are not held at risk from Kim Jong Un having a nuclear weapon".

Hackers have targeted several groups associated with the upcoming Winter Olympics in South Korea, says McAfee.

The drills' suspension is something that South Korea can not accept in consideration of its relations with the US, its main ally, which is seeking increased pressure and sanctions on the North. South Korea's chief negotiator is Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon, an expert with abundance practical experience in inter-Korean exchange, talks and negotiations. It will also be the first dialogue since South Korean President Moon Jae-in launched his administration last May.

Hayley stressed during the interview that USA tension with North Korea is a "serious situation, and [Kim] can't sit there and imply that he's going to destroy the United States without us reminding him of the facts and the reality that if you go there, it's not us that's going to be detroyed, it's you". The last was held in December 2015 between vice ministerial-level officials of the two Koreas.
