You Can Now Find Portrait Paintings That Resemble You, Thanks To Google

The app takes facial features from uploaded photos and searches for those characteristics in famous paintings - and it's surprisingly accurate. If you download the app (or apply the new update, assuming you already had the app installed), you can share a selfie and have the app attempt to find your fine art doppelgänger. As it is an experimental feature, it might be witnessing a gradual rollout to other regions.

As often happens with these fleeting internet moments, the Google Arts and Culture app seemed to come from nowhere and is now everywhere.

After downloading the app, you'll have to scroll down to the section that reads "Is your portrait in a museum?" Using the built-in camera of the app, you can capture a selfie (however imperfect or weird it is) and upload it. Google will automatically show you which famous artwork you resemble. In some cases, the resemblance between the person and the piece of art is uncanny, while more frequently, the matches tend to be a little more baffling.

Flooding at JFK airport worsens travel delays
Worldwide flights flying into Terminal 4 were halted after a water main broke and soaked a baggage claim area, CNN reported . The Port Authority said it was deploying additional staff and providing buses to assist travelers.

Are you more of a Botticelli or a Van Gogh? The allure is obvious, and now thousands of people have not only used the app, but shared the results to social media. "For example, a computer might be trained to recognise the common patterns of shapes and colours that make up a digital image of a face", said Google's official webpage describing pattern recognition. Find out with the Google Arts and Culture app.

If you've watched any of your friend's Instagram Stories over the last week, you've probably run into the Google Arts and Culture app a.k.a. The initiative today incorporates work from over thousands of museums from across 70 countries.
