Kanye and Kim Kardashian West revealed the name of their third child on Friday.

Kardashian announced the name on her app by simply posting "Chicago West", TMZ reported.

Followed by four heart eye emojis, Khloe showed her approval of the name choice while also confirming that the nickname of the newest member of the Kardashian's expanding empire will be Chi, identical to the fond moniker of the famous IL city.

"North, Saint and No", tweeted one user, referring to Kardashian and West's other two children. She added that the girl is a healthy 7 pounds, 6 ounces.

Kardashian West's fertilized egg had been implanted into a surrogate, who gave birth to the child.

West was raised in the USA city Chicago.

Certain parts of pufferfish contain tetrodotoxin - which can lead to paralysis and potentially death if consumed. Pufferfish, or fugu, is an expensive delicacy often served in the form of paper-thin sashimi slices.

While the celebrity couple did not offer an explanation for the unique name, Kanye West grew up in the Windy City.

She also retweeted a fan who correctly deduced the pronunciation of the newborn's nickname.

"Kim and Kanye surprised everyone by not choosing a one-syllable word name to match North and Saint, but also a "place name" with ties to Kanye's history - he was born in Atlanta but raised in Chicago and he strongly identifies with it as his hometown", Linda Rosenkrantz, co-founder of the baby naming site Nameberry, tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

The new family addition will only be the youngest for a little while - both Khloé Kardashian and Kylie Jenner's are pregnant with their first children, due early this year.

Fans of the entrepreneur have been speculating about the name of the baby ever since it was revealed on Keeping Up With The Kardashians that the 37-year-old had made a decision to have a third child via surrogate after suffering fertility problems. "North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister".

She has since posted more details about her decision not to go through with another high-risk pregnancy, explaining: "Preeclampsia and placenta accreta are high-risk conditions, so when I wanted to have a third baby, doctors said that it wasn't safe for my - or the baby's - health to carry on my own". It's not for everyone, but I absolutely love my gestational carrier and this was the best experience I've ever had.
