Lorde may boycott the Grammys over alleged sexist snub

Ella Yelich-O'Connor better known as Lorde at the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards 2017

She's the only Album of the Year nominee to be left out, and the only woman on the list.

Word is she won't even be on the red carpet before the show, because she didn't want to be too involved after a "heated back and forth" where she was only offered a chance to sing as part of that tribute to Petty.

If you had your heart set on seeing Lorde do a Grammy performance, there's a classic one nestled below for your convenience.

She has performed in the Big Apple over the past week, including a cover of Carly Rae Jepsen's "Run Away With Me" at New York's Town Hall on Wednesday.

Citing "sources close to Lorde", TMZ reports the singer was only offered the option to sing as part of a tribute to the late Tom Petty - a version of events backed by a Variety story. According to TMZ, she will also not be appearing on the red carpet.

Turkish military enters Syrian city after days of airstrikes
Military analyst Abdullah Agar said USA support had "really deepened", causing "a lot of concern" for Turkey. The YPG said Turkey's strikes had killed six civilians and three of its members and injured 13 civilians.

She also performed at the 2017 MTV VMAs without singing because she had the flu, but didn't want to cancel.

A recent report in Variety claims that all the male artists in the Album of the Year category -Childish Gambino, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, and Bruno Mars - were offered solo performance slots.

Lorde's mother Sonja Yelich fanned the flames last week when she tweeted a photo of a New York Times article stating that of all the artists nominated for Grammys in the past six years, only nine ideal were women.

Earlier this week, Lorde's mother posted a New York Times article up on Twitter about the lack of diversity in the show. She was 17 years old at the time.
