AU Threatens to Slap Sanctions on South Sudan

The plans to send Tillerson to Africa come following a backlash after the president reportedly referred to Haiti, El Salvador and African nations as "shithole countries" in an Oval Office meeting on immigration.

Chinese ambassador to the AU Kuang Weilin has called a report in on this issue "sensational".

He spoke out three days after the newspaper published an article claiming data from the Chinese-built AU building was being copied to Shanghai.

African Union spokeswoman Ebba Kalondo also dismissed the Le Monde report as containing "baseless accusations".

Anonymous sources told the newspaper that the discovery in January 2017 resulted in the change of servers while security experts from Algeria who checked the entire building found microphones installed in desks.

It is reported that Trump's letter extended his "deepest compliments" to African counterparts, adding that he respects their mutual friendship and shared values with Africa and its people.

President Adesina also attended the High Level Event on "New Way of Working: From Vision to Action-National, Regional and Global Dimensions" at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

O.P. Rawat appointed next Chief Election Commissioner
Apart from this, Rawat has also served as Collector of Narsinghpur from 1983-86 and Indore (Madhya Pradesh) from 1986-88. After that he went to United Kingdom (UK) to complete his MSc in Social Development Planning.

The leaders are discussing, among others, the report of the Chairperson of the AU Commission and the report on the implementation of the Assembly declarations, including that on the Single African Air Transport Market.

Others, like the Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, preferred to emphasize the importance of the "strong" and "strategic" relationship with China, Africa's leading partner, with $149.2 billion in trade in 2016 (according to Beijing), and many donations and loans at very low rates on the African continent.

"I don't think spying is the speciality of the Chinese".

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit said the common convergence between the Arab world and the African continent remains a "theater for multiple tensions and instability".

Asked who he referred to, he said: "People in the west".

"I don't worry about being spied on in AU headquarters".

His only concern, he said, was that the AU, instead of China, should have built the headquarters.
