France international Mangala is surplus to requirements as City are signing Aymeric Laporte

After Joe Bennett's nasty challenge on Leroy Sane, Pep Guardiola again pleads to referees to "do their job" and better protect players.

Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala is reportedly discussing personal terms with Everton ahead of a proposed loan move to Goodison Park as the Merseysiders move closer to bolstering their defensive options.

Mangala has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad following the £57m arrival of Aymeric Laporte on Tuesday.

Mangala's loan is edging closer to completion, but Everton are not willing to let young striker Fraser Hornby leave on a temporary deal and have rejected offer for the 18-year-old, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Mahmoud Abbas urges European Union to 'swiftly recognise' Palestine
Mike Pence's visit is overshadowed by the tensions caused by Donald Trump's decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Vice President Mike Pence announced Monday that the US embassy in Israel will move from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2019.

He did manage to make 30 league appearances for the La Liga outfit over the course of last season, though his club future has looked increasingly unclear since returning to England.

Ross Barkley, Aaron Lennon and Liam Walsh have left on permanent deals while Sandro Ramirez has headed back to Spain on loan.

Everton are reportedly in talks with the French worldwide over a loan move, with the option of signing him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Mangala has made just 10 starts this season, despite injuries to captain Vincent Kompany and John Stones. Mangala arrived at Manchester City from Porto in the summer of 2014 for around £32 million with big expectations on his shoulders.
