Republican policies are leading our country toward feudalism, while Trump's concern with class warfare is limited to his personal bullying of classmates and disrespecting teachers to the point that he was shipped off to military reform school.

Last September, at a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump announced his idea of staging a grand parade of the armed forces in Washington on July 4. Aboard Air Force One en route home from Paris in July, aides said Trump told them that he was dazzled by the French display and that he wanted one at home.

"We're going to have to try and top it [Bastille Day], but we had a lot of planes going over and we had a lot of military might", he pointed out.

Trump publicly expressed his interest in an American military display after watching the Paris parade. It quoted an unidentified military official as saying, "The marching orders were: I want a parade like the one in France".

"With the completion of the Afghanistan combat mission expected at the end of this year, and with Iraq's official end far behind us, it's time for NY to stake its claim and for the Department of Defense to join in planning this welcome home celebration".

"The military is not Donald Trump's to use and abuse this way", Eaton said.

They heard about the parade along with the rest of the world. "We'll put together options, and we will work everything from size to participation to cost, and when I get clear options, we'll send those over to the White House, and I'll go over and talk with them". The US is now still mired in the longest war in its history as the Afghanistan war enters its 17th year, and US troops are now engaged in combat operations in several countries.

"A military parade in D.C. would shut down the nation's capital and waste taxpayer dollars just to feed Trump's ego", said Eleanor Holmes Norton, a non-voting delegate to the U.S. Congress for the District of Columbia, a Democratic stronghold.

"The fact is that we've shown, both through studies and experience, that open service by transgender troops is good for the military". George H.W. Bush was president at the time.

A Pentagon spokesman, Charlie Summers, said Pentagon officials are aware of the request and are "looking at options". "We're not North Korea, we're not Russian Federation, and we're not China and I don't want to be", Kennedy told reporters. The Tribune article also shares numerous criticisms of this plan, including the millions of dollars that would need to be spent just moving weapons to Washington DC and the pointlessness of the parade which would not be celebrating any military victory or any anniversary of a victory.
