Nest rejoins Google to help Assistant take on Alexa

It's taken them four years, but Google has announced that smart home company Nest (acquired by Google in 2014) will merge with the Google Hardware team.

This fits in line with the appearance of Nest on-stage at the October Made by Google event a year ago, talking about using Google's Machine Learning and Assistant in powering Nest products.

The declaration has been disclosed today in a blog post released by Osterloh in concurrence with a chain of some interviews with media. during an interview, he told that this new advancement is about sympathizing all the hardware verticals based on artificial intelligence in to just one unite that can associate more closely.

Nest CEO Marwan Fawaz is convinced Google will be able to leverage its AI capabilities on this new thrust as attested by the company's previous gains in the same platform such as advances in the facial recognition area. We have different journeys. Wednesday's announcement stated that Nest sold more devices in 2017 than it did in 2015 and 2016 together. Smart home products are becoming an increasingly competitive area of consumer tech. Nest and Google also will stay at their separate offices "for the foreseeable future", she said. Nest, which makes smart thermostats, security cameras, and smoke detectors, is now part of Google's hardware division, which makes devices like the Google Home speakers and Pixel smartphones. Nest products are frequently used in combination with digital assistants such as the Google Assistant and Amazon's Alexa. At the time, Nest founder and Chief Product Officer Matt Rogers wrote in an FAQ that Nest's privacy policy "clearly limits the use of customer information to providing and improving Nest's products and services".

They have particularly been very effective in denying South Africa the opportunity to build partnerships, especially upfront. All of this places enormous pressure on South Africa's young stand-in captain Aiden Markram .

The decision also gives some clarity to Nest, which is best known for its smart thermostats.

The move is created to combine its machine learning and AI investments with its hardware development, which the company says is a natural progression.

"We're excited to bring the Nest and Google Hardware teams together". While Nest products already have Google's virtual assistant built-in, combining the hardware, software, and services of both companies will solidify it and will have the artificial intelligence and the Assistant as the core of all the products.
