Pastor, churchgoer in serious condition, others injured after stabbing

A member of a Texas house church went berserk Wednesday evening and stabbed the pastor and three others before police detained him.

One of the victims, a 61-year-old man, died from his injuries.

A band member was then stabbed in the neck, and two other people were punctured in the hands and arms as they tried to tackle the suspect. Both the pastor and the band member are in the hospital, where medical professionals said their injuries were life threatening. No other details were immediately released. Witnesses identified 28-year-old Marco Antonio Moreno as the attacker, police said.

He's being held at the Nueces County jail on murder and aggravated assault charges.

Hooper says Moreno has an "alcohol- and drug-related history" with police.

Then, on Wednesday, Porter resigned after his two ex-wives said that he had abused them during their relationships. But Holderness and Willoughby say they did tell the Federal Bureau of Investigation what happened in January 2017.

Jail records don't indicate whether he has an attorney.

The pastor received multiple stab wounds to the chest. The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports that it happened around 7 p.m. during a nondenominational service.

He said it's not clear what led to the stabbing.
