Speaking in the pre-match conference ahead of United's FA Cup clash with Huddersfield Town, Jose Mourinho shared his side of the Paul Pogba story.

Paul Pogba is Mourinho's go to in the midfield, but the young midfielder misses an important match in Manchester United's season due to illness.

Mourinho also said there was no disagreement between him and Pogba about the player's position as he again rounded on those in the media who have questioned how the midfielder is used. You can accuse me of many things but you cannot say I lie to you.

"I accept and I can speak on Paul's behalf without any kind of problem. You are paid to read and explain the game, don't say [lies]".

"I don't want to speak to you about my conversations with my players. I don't have to tell you anything about it", the Portuguese boss added. Of course, we need balance in the team.

Gossip emerging from France had claimed that Pogba had grown so unhappy with Mourinho about the ongoing debate over his position that he "regrets" re-signing with his former club. So be objective and say what we all know - in the last couple of matches he didn't play well.

Steve Mounie is hoping to continue a run of three goals in his last four games, but manager David Wagner knows it will be hard to repeat Huddersfield's memorable 2-1 win over United from October. So, if the referees are happy with that technological support, then yes, let's go for the VAR.

Mourinho, however, insisted United will not treat the FA Cup - which he won while at Chelsea in 2007 - lightly.

The Red Devils boss remains unclear whether the France global will be available for Wednesday's Champions League trip to Sevilla. The win would allow The Red Devils to reach the FA Cup quarterfinals for the fourth year in a row.

"This week, for example, we didn't have a few players with injuries and small things we wanted to protect and didn't train with the team and made individual training, the kids trained with us on Thursday and before that".

The F A Cup can be a focus for some teams or a distraction for others, with Manchester City so far in front at the top of the Premier League, United could be forgiven for focussing on silverware with a determination to get by the Terriers.
